Two crushed, others seriously injured in bus crash

Accident involving two cars and two trucks has claimed the lives of two, leaving seven seriously injured.

The fatal accident involving two trucks that were on their way to Lagos occurred on Saturday, October 29 at about 6.10am, and saw two people crushed to death, Punch reports.

The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, revealed that on of the trucks with number plate, KJA 113 XR, slammed into a vehicle with plate number EKY 653 XB., which was broken down along the road while descending the slope in the axis.

Akinbiyi explained that some of the hoodlums in the area gathered around the first truck attempting to extort the driver when the second truck which suffered brake failure, ran into the first truck from behind.

“When this happened, the hoodlums moved from the first truck and went to the second one, and wanted to extort money from the driver, who had been injured due to the impact of the accident.

“But in the process, an oncoming commercial bus painted in Lagos colour to death instantly and injured seven others with one of them in a critical condition.

“The commercial bus driver sped off the scene immediately and our operatives could not apprehend him or capture its number plate.”

According to NAN, the corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the state General Hospital, Ifo, while the injured are currently undergoing treatment at Ojugbele Hospital at Ota.
