A thief who wanted to steal cables from a transformer in Borno State was rewarded with severe burns after power was suddenly restored.

The burnt transformer thief

According to a journalist based in the state, Usman Maigana, the thief had sneaked into a transformer unit at the state's School of Nursing located in Maiduguri and was busy stealing cables and other parts from the transformer.

But while at it, electricity power was suddenly restored and that caused a spark which ignited a fire and he was burnt severely and was only rescued by passersby who saw the man in flames.
