This renewed salvo came a few days after declaring a truce in the dirty war of words Fani-Kayode embarked with the Ondo State governorship aspirant where they traded words, calling each other derogatory names.
The war of words had taken a different dimension when the two of them went personal, insulting their parents and wives and at a time, according to the enfant terrible and self-acclaimed nemesis of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), some well meaning Nigerians intervened and he declared an end to the battle.
But this renewed attack on Ibrahim by Fani-Kayode stemmed from allegations that after losing the PDP ticket to Eyitayo Jegede, Ibrahim publicly campaigned for the eventual winner of the election, Rotimi Akeredolu.
Read what Ibrahim posted on his Twitter handle:
'ONLY Akeredolu possess the right mentality, competence, readiness and moral amplitude to lead Ondo State. #OndoVotesAkeredolu #OndoDecides.'
'Dear PDP supporters & the entire people of Ondo State, VOte Barr. Oluwarotimi Odunayo AKEREDOLU. VOTE APC #OndoVotesAkeredolu #OndoDecides.'
And after the election and the declaration of Akeredolu as the winner, Ibrahim fired this:
'I had no doubt that Jegede would lose as Femi Fani-Kayode was supporting him. If you want to win any election, pay Femi not to support you.'
Not one to be brow-beaten, Fani-Kayode went back to his Twitter and declared that Ibrahim sold his party for money, calling him a Judas.
Read what he wrote here:
'The biggest Judas in Nigerian politics today is Jimoh Ibrahim. He sold his party for money. He lives like Judas and he will end like Judas.'
With the inference that Ibrahim will end up like the Biblical Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus Christ for 30 pieces of silver and ended up committing suicide, it seems another round of mudslinging is on the way.
