18 Students Killed, 19 Injured In Indian Bus And Train Crash

An Indian train crashed into a bus killing 18 students and their driver

No fewer than eighteen school children and their driver were killed when a passenger train hit their school bus in Telangana, India.

Though nobody was injured on the train, nineteen other students in the bus sustained various degrees of injuries.

Student Pulse gathered from a BBCreport that the train hit the bus at an unmanned level crossing near Masaipet village in Medak district.

After the collision, the bus was dragged along the rail track for several hundred metres before stopping.

BBC reports that there have been safety standard concerns about India's railway network which services about 23 million passengers daily.

Several people are killed yearly at India's nearly 15,000 unmanned railway crossings.
