A 25-year-old 400-level Geography Education student of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye, Babatunde Abiodun, has been arrested by the Ogun state police for cultism.

A 25-year-old 400-level Geography Education student of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye, Babatunde Abiodun, has been arrested by the Ogun state police for cultism.
Abiodun was arrested alongside, a 23-year-old 200 level Political Science student of the same school, Tobi Richard, and an HND 1 student of the Lagos State Polytechnic, Ifeanyi Ubamwa.
According to reports, the trio were arrested on Saturday at different locations by officers of the Ago-Iwoye Police Division.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who was quoted by Daily Post, said Richard and Abiodun have confessed to being members of the Buccaneer confraternity while the suspect is an Eye confraternity member.
“The suspects have confessed to being members of the cult groups,” Adejobi said.
“The Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali has directed the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Eleweran, Abeokuta to take over the case for proper investigations and that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations."
The police spokesman said the State Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, has vowed to stop cultism to in the state.
It will be recalled that in late July, the Commissioner ordered his men to "to shoot on sight any cultist or ritualist seen perpetrating any of these activities" and added that "a cult member would be treated as an armed robber or a murderer.”
These arrests would be seen as a confirmation of his resolved to bring student cultism to an end.
