Recall that on Monday,  August 22,  2017, JAMB announced a new cut off mark for universities and Polytechnics admission.

JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, stakeholders unanimously agreed that the minimum cut off mark for university admission be pegged at 120 while that of Polytechnic, Monotechnics and College of Education is pegged at 100.

However, JAMB's decision to reduce university admission cut off mark from 180 to 120 stirred controversies as the Vice Chancellors of some first generation universities like the University of Ibadan rejected the new cut off mark policy.

While reacting to the controversial cut off mark in October 2017, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof Idowu Olayinka said the institution would not lower her standards to stoop to the new benchmarks.

However, since a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja earlier in March has declared Post-UTME illegal, the 2018 university admission would be based on 180 or 190 as announced by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board.
