Board announces that it will conduct mock examinations

The mock exams should help you be better prepared for your exams.

JAMB registers 600, 000 candidates, says no extension period

This was made known after the announcement of the sale of forms for the 2017 examinations. The statement released by the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, also made it clear that this is optional.

When and where would these mock exams hold?

The mock examinations will be held in all accredited Computer Based Test centres. The point of this is to help potential candidates familiarise with the CBT environment. It will be held on April 8, 2017.

The main Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, will hold between May 6 and May 20. The sales of forms begin on March 20 and closes on April 19.

While registering for the UTME, interested candidates will be given the option to indicate interest in taking the mock exams.

While the UTME registration fee will cost N5,500 only, the CBT centres are allowed to collect (through the CBT centre bank accounts) another N700 for the mock test. This second payment will be done after candidates have received CBT centres.

Payment must be done, according to the statement from JAMB, only after candidates have been notified of their CBT centres.

The computer-based test (CBT) method of writing its Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in 2013, and conducted the examination in 2013 and 2014 using three modes, namely, dual-based test, paper pencil test and CBT.

It wasn't until 2015 that the board went full scale CBT, and they haven't looked back since.

The biggest challenge CBT faces remains infrastructural problems, lack poor power supply, bad internet connectivity, shortage of computers amongst other things.

Visually impaired candidates will still have interview-based examinations.
