Lecturers tackle Okorocha over unpaid salaries, say no pay, no work

Lecturers at the Imo State University (IMSU) have refused to end their industrial strike over unpaid salaries, amidst on-going negotiations with the state government.

gathered that the lecturers are on strike over the failure of the Rochas Okorocha led government to pay their March and April salaries.

According to the Media Director, IMSU Chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Valene Obinna, the strike will continue until the monies are paid.

Obinna waved away rumours that the strike action, coming after the 2015 gubernatorial elections in the state, was politically motivated.

According to reports, IMSU Public Relations Officer, Raphael Njokuobi, reportedly said the issue of unpaid salaries was not peculiar to the state.

Academic activities have been brought to a standstill, causing the cancellation of the scheduled seminar for final year students.
