Varsity's research department discovers crude oil in Bida Basin

Prof. said that the institution has made its findings known to both the Federal Government as well as the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The information was disclosed by the Head of Research and Development, IBB, Lapai In Niger State Prof. Nuhu Obaje, on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the exhibition of raw materials and local products, held at Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Daily Trust reports.

The Prof. said that the institution made its findings known to both the Federal Government as well as the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

He added that the management of the university is ready to offer any form of assistance to the government in further exploration of crude in the area.

Prof. Obaje noted that the University Research department has also introduced a technology for quick crude oil discovery and drilling.
