A governorship aspirant in Oyo state, Oluseyi Makinde, has awarded 1500 scholarships to students of various tertiary institutions in the country.
Oyo governorship candidate awards 1500 scholarships to 'support youths'
One thousand five hundred tertiary institution students have been given scholarship by an Oyo state governorship candidate, Oluseyi Makinde.
Makinde who is running under the Social Democratic Party said the scholarship is to support the educational pursuits of the beneficiaries'.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the politician said it is the duty of leaders to support and guide the youth.
"As leaders, we owe it a duty to support the youth to be the best they can be by encouraging them and to guide them in the right direction through our actions and inactions," Makinde said.
He said he enjoyed free education in his days as a student at the Bishop Philips Academy, Ibadan
gathered that Makinde was the record holder of the best ever WAEC result obtained at the Academy until it was smashed in 2001.
