Court remands sex-for-mark lecturer, Prof Akindele in prison
Prof. Richard Akindele was accused of demanding sex from a post-graduate student, Monica Osagie in exchange for marks.
The lecturer according to Punch was arraigned on Monday, November 19, 2018, before Justice Maureen Onyetenu of a Federal High Court, Osogbo, on four counts bothering on alteration of age and demanding sex to pass her student.
Recall that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, announced that the former lecturer would be arraigned.
Akindele pleads
However, during his arraignment, Professor Akindele was reported to have pleaded through his lawyer, Omotayo Alade-Fawole asking for a plea bargain.
The former Professor also reportedly claims he has health conditions that will make it difficult for him to stay in prison.
Akindele said that he is already serving punishment for his action, since he has been sacked by the University authorities.
