Akpabio said this on Saturday, while speaking at the fifth convocation of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua in Ikot Ekpene LGA.

The governor told the students acquire skills that will make them relevant in the emerging industrial revolution, adding that polytechnic graduates are much sought after because their institutions lay emphasis on vocational, entrepreneurial skills and technology with the aim of building the needed skill and manpower to drive the society.

“This is why many industries and organizations prefer the services of Polytechnic graduates," Akpabio said.

"This has as much to do with their skills, as it has to do with their practical training, which are instruments to national economic and technology development."

He urged the students to study hard so as to secure a prime place in new companies like Quantum Petroleum which is building a Methanol Plant in the state.
