Pastors can not seem to make up their mind. Some argue that it is compulsory and that one will be cursed if they do not pay it. While the other group believes that it is a sin to pay your tithe.
The result is that we have puzzled Christians wondering if they should pay their tithe or face the consequences they have been warned about if they do not.
While we are waiting for everyone to be on the same page, Pulse Religion is here to offer you some alternative tithing methods.
Here are five things you can do with your 10%.
Help someone in need:
It is just terrible and frankly inhuman to carry your tithe around when that money can change someone‘s life for the better.
Buy some things and take them to a motherless home. You can also just take your cash there.
Help out widows and widowers around you.
You can use your 10% to pay food, clothing or more for the poor in your area.
You can give to charities and organisations around the world.
Ultimately, tithing is not about paying God off. It is also more than just money. It is about giving cheerfully because we have been given so much (See 2 Corinthians 9:6–12).
Let’s not just focus on giving our 10% instead let us widen our horizon and learn to give our time, money and possessions.
