Woman Asks For Bank Loan Using ‘Holy Spirit’ As Collateral In Delta State

According to Leadership newspapers, drama ensued last Friday in one of the Microfinance banks (name withheld), located in one of the major cities of Delta when a woman requested for a loan of N1.5million from one of the bank’s officials she had approached at the counter.

It was gathered that the official had brought out a loan form meant for customers who wanted such provision.

While she was filling the form, the middle aged-woman wrote the name of her 12-year-old son as surety and also wrote that she was ready to give the Holy Spirit as collateral.

The official, who was surprised by what the woman wrote, took the form to his boss to seek his advice and invited the woman to his boss’ office.

Reports say the woman was asked to explain what she meant by the ‘Holy Spirit’ she wrote as her collateral, and her 12- year- old son as surety.

She responded:

Leadership reports that, all efforts to make the woman realise that it was not possible to make the Holy Spirit her collateral fell on deaf ears, and at a point, she got angry and told them: , she boasted and walked away.

Two days later, the woman reportedly returned with the wife of the chairman, board of directors of the bank, who shouted and banged on the table and asking:

she asked.
