The Holy Father shares these in his third apostolic exhortation titled "Gaudete et Exsultate" ("Rejoice and Be Glad"), which is dated 19 March 2018 and published on 9 April 2018.

When it comes to spiritual battles, his advice is for Christians to take advantage of the weapons that we have already been given by Jesus Christ.

These weapons, according to Pope Francis are, "faith-filled prayer, meditation on the word of God, the celebration of Mass, Eucharistic adoration, sacramental Reconciliation, works of charity, community life, missionary outreach."

He is quick to add that Christians don't have to face these spiritual battles by themselves, urging everyone to rely on the Holy Spirit.

"We need, though, to ask the Holy Spirit to liberate us and to expel the fear that makes us ban him from certain parts of our lives," Pope Francis advises.

For the pope, the real struggle is not necessarily about spiritual battles or sin in general. Rather it is also against having a lukewarm spiritual life. He explains that "everything then appears acceptable: deception, slander, egotism and other subtle forms of self-centeredness."

This is why he concludes with this, "the cultivation of all that is good, progress in the spiritual life and growth in love are the best counterbalance to evil."
