The North Central chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) together with heads of different church denominations and Christian organisations in Plateau State, have lamented the recent brutal killings and bombings that have wrecked serious damage to the state.

The religious group then urged the state Police Commissioner, Nasiru Oki, to redouble his efforts towards ending the menace.

ThisDay reports that the North-Central CAN Chairman, Yakubu Pam, led other Christian leaders to visit the state police commissioner, noting that latest statistics revealed over 264 deaths had been recorded in Riyom and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas after the 2015 elections.

CAN said it was burdened that the state which houses the headquarters of most Christian bodies in Nigeria has become a tinder bolt where every little provocation triggers violence, adding that the attack and burning of two church buildings after the recent bomb blast was uncalled for.

Lamenting that many citizens of the state had become traumatised having been rendered homeless by the incessant attacks and crises, CAN said it was within the office of the police commissioner to urge him to use his position to bring the havoc to an end.

While appreciating the Police for living up to their task in preventing another explosion in ECWA last Sunday, CAN said it was good that roadblocks have been mounted again to prevent further crimes in the state.

In his response, Oki said he was working assiduously with his team of other security agencies and state government to reduce crime in the state to the barest minimal. He charged CAN to make necessary information at its disposal available to the police to help it.

In the delegation were, Rev Gideon Para-Mallam of IFES, Pastor Balarabe Usman of NIFES, Rev Obet Dasham of COCIN and other representatives of churches in the state.
