In a recent report by ThisDay Newspaper, Obasanjo gave his condition to support the party saying he can't make another mistake the Nigeria's future.
The report also stressed that while Obasanjo wasn't aversed to a new and formidable opposition party against 2019, he insisted his support will only come if Atiku will not emerge the party's presidential candidate in 2019.
A source in the know reportedly disclosed that, “He (Obasanjo) addressed the group that met with him, informing them that he had made too many mistakes in his life and for the nation, including the blanket support he claimed to have granted the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari, and therefore was not prepared to make any more mistakes.”
The ex-President was reported to have also told the proponents of the new party that while he has no particular candidate at heart, anybody with the minimum requisite qualifications and experience should emerge the candidate but definitely not Atiku.
The proposed mega party is said to be a brainchild of some aggrieved politicians in APC as well as opposition parties.
Meanwhile, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has been fingered to be planning the emergence of the mega party alongside Atiku Abubakar has denied possibilities of leaving APC.
