Ex-Senate Leader named INEC committee chairman
Ex-Senate Leader, Ali Ndume has been named the Senate INEC standing committee chairman 15 days after he was impeached.

This was made known by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, The Nation Newspaper reports.
The new role is coming for Senator Ndume 15 days after he was controversially removed as Senate Leader on January 10, 2017.
Senator Abba Kyari, who was holding the position was named the Senate Chairman, Senate Committee on Defence.

Other committee appointments Saraki made included Senator Magnus Abe (Rivers South East), chairman, Senate Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Senator George Sekibo, chairman, Senate Committee on Interior, Senator Aitai Ali Idokko (Kogi East) was assigned Chairman, Senate Committee on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
The new five appointments join the 63 standing committees of the Senate to make 68.
