Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello touched down in Nigeria and into the waiting arms of a throng of supporters.
Pulse was the first and only medium to report that the Kogi Governor had duly obtained permission from the State House of Assembly before proceeding on vacation abroad.
The mainstream media and several other outlets had erroneously reported that the Governor was terminally ill and had fled his State unannounced.
Days later, Pulse posted the Governor's letter seeking permission from the legislature to travel abroad.
Bello had also handed over the reins to his deputy, Simon Achuba, before leaving the country.
“The Governor is abroad after taking due permission from the House of Assembly. The Governor is not in any clinic or any hospital. He’s 100 percent in good health. There is nothing wrong with the Kogi State Governor”, said Gbenga Olorunpomi who is the Senior Special Assistant on Electronic Media to the Executive Governor of Kogi State.
Governor Bello was welcomed back home by a throng of supporters and well wishers on Friday.
Olorunpomi had told Pulse that Governor Bello had undergone a routine eye operation in Dubai.
The mainstream media had reported that the Governor was tending to his eye and was in critical condition in Germany.
“The Governor has a minor eye problem..yes…but it’s nothing major”, said Olorunpomi. “It’s just a corrective procedure and nothing more.
“The way it was reported, the Governor is on his way to doing it. But he’s long done the corrective procedure and is recuperating in Dubai. The Governor is nowhere near Germany at the moment”, Olorunpomi affirmed.
Bello touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 5pm, Friday.
Yahaya Bello assumed duties as Governor of Kogi State on Wednesday, January 27, 2016.
The Supreme Court affirmed Bello's position as Governor after a long running legal battle, on Tuesday, September 20, 2016.
