Rat poison vendors in Jos, Plateau, are making brisk business following the outbreak of Lassa fever.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that rat has been identified as the vector carrying the virus that causes the fever.

Some of the vendors told NAN in separate interview on Friday that they were recording high sales.

NAN reports that the price of a popular brand of the commodity had risen to N300 from the previous N200.

Festus Ifeanyi, a rat poison vendor, said many residents were patronising all the various brands of poison being sold.

According to him, residents patronise all kinds of brands even as their prices are rising.

Mr James Chukwu, who hawks rat poison, said all kinds of rat poison were being bought by residents.
