"Fifty The Series" What to expect from TV adaptation this July

In 2015, media mogul Mo Abudu released one of the most successful Nollywood movies, "Fifty."

Over a year later, EbonyLife Films decided to emerge with a small screen take on the movie which followed the lives of four women approaching the age of 50.

For the TV series which is titled "Fifty The Series," multiple award-winning filmmaker, Akin Omotoso, takes over from Biyi Bandele who helmed the movie.

Returning cast includes Omoni Oboli, Ireti Doyle, Dakore Akande, Uzor Osimkpa, Timini Egbuson, Wale Ojo and Kachi Nnochiri all reprising their roles from the movie.

New characters are introduced. There's Chris Attoh as Francis, a new love interest for Ireti Doyle's Elizabeth.

 

Other additions include Linda Osifo, Palesa Setlhare, Hakeem Kae-Kazim among others.

Another obvious change is Keira Hewatch taking over as the religious Kate. The character was previously played by Nse Ikpe-Etim in the movie.

When the series debuts, there would be a mystery wedding and of course, the bold intimate scenes associated with the movie, are not absent in "Fifty The Series."

The TV series is written by Ben Johnson and will make its debut on EbonyLife channel on July 27, 2017.
