George Williams Ghanaian actor dead

Veteran Ghanaian actor George Williams has died, aged 87, in the Ghanaian capital of Accra.

The actor popular for his role in TV Series, “Ultimate Paradise” died on Monday, August 1, 2016 at the KorleBu Teaching Hospital according to Starr FM 103.5FM Ghana. The radio station said a close relative of the actor confirmed this.

Williams fondly called Uncle George was known for his contribution and influence in the Ghanaian movie industry.

Before his death, he was a teacher at the Accra Film School. Williams was also a broadcaster who had previously worked with the British Broadcasting Corporation, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Service, and the Liberian Advertising Service.

He acted in several films and TV series including “ Mama”, “Genesis Chapter X”, “Bloody Kids” and "My Sister's Honour".

Fans of the actor took to Twitter to mourn his demise.

 

George Williams was born on January 8, 1929.
