Speaking in a new TV interview, Barry and June Steenkamp revealed that the beautiful model had packed her bags and was ready to leave Oscar Pistorius the day he shot and killed her.
'He killed her. He admits he killed her,' June said as she questioned the South African justice system during an emotional interview with Channel Seven's Sunday Night.
'She is dead after [Pistorius made] sure she was dead. Why didn't he just let her walk away?' she inquired rhetorically.
Barry and June aren't happy that the athlete was acquitted of murdering the aspiring model but was convicted of a lesser charge of culpable homicide, which is comparable to manslaughter.
The emotional interview comes as the Paralympic champion was expecting to be reunited with his family after serving just 10 months of his five-year sentence.
Two days before his scheduled release, the South African justice minister ruled that the decision was made 'prematurely' and the 'Bladerunner' was denied parole.
The couple opened up during a candid interview with Channel Seven's current affairs program Sunday Night
'What actually came out in court is not the truth. We know what we heard there is not right.' Barry told Channel Seven's Sunday Night program.
'People actually heard the screams and when he realised that had happened he couldn't stop. He had to carry on until it was finished. We will leave it to the justice system,' Mr Steenkamp said.
Mr Steenkamp said he is certain that Pistorius, a double amputee and the only disabled athlete to compete in the Olympic Games, unloaded his gun in a deliberate attempt to kill his daughter.
However, Pistorius has attempted to make contact with the Steenkamp family, but neither Barry or June are ready to face the man who took their daughter's life.
