CemAir operates 26 aircraft departing from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. The airline serves important business cities throughout Africa. They are also very popular among tourists going on safari in the country, but also flying, for example, to Maun in neighbouring Botswana, which is the gateway to the Okavango Delta.

The flight from Johannesburg to Maun takes approximately one hour and 45 minutes. Passengers are warned to use airport toilets before boarding.

"The reality is that there are countless cases where male passengers are forced to use a bottle in front of their neighbours, and the situation is perhaps more embarrassing for female passengers," IOL described the problem.

Miles van der Molen, the airline's general manager, said if anyone wanted to cancel their trip because the toilet was closed, they would receive a full refund.
