Pokemon GO launches in Japan, bringing smash-hit game home

There has been a lot talk on Pokemon Go, the mobile augmented reality game that has been on the lips of millions of people across the world.

Since its launch, the game has now been downloaded 75 million times, according to a report by Sensor Tower, a mobile app analytics firm.

Within the first 19 days following its launch, the game already hit 50 million downloads, surpassing the pace of other hit games like Color Switch, which took 77 days; and Candy Crush Jelly Saga, which took 112 days.

The game has also made it to the top of the Apple App Store downloads and revenue rankings in every country where it has been available.

Niantic, the former Google in-house company that developed the game in collaboration with Nintendo, achieved all of this without ever being featured on the App Store or Google Play and with little or no advertising.

Pokemon Go now holds the record for the highest mobile game downloads in the first month after its launch, although it is only present in 32 out of the 100 countries that has the App Store and Google Play Store.
