This Ring Allows You To Receive Calls, Texts Messages And More

If you think SmartWatches are the coolest gadgets around now, then you obviously haven't heard of the SmartRing.

The highly anticipated MOTA SmartRing has appeared on Indiegogo to receive funding so it can be built.

With smartwatches and head worn accessories growing in popularity it's time for an alternative, so MOTA thinks. That's why it has come up with the SmartRing which connects to your mobile via Bluetooth 4.0 LE and displays notifications on its LED touchscreen.

The idea of wearing a ring, rather than a watch, is to offer a more subtle way of viewing notifications which shouldn’t take you out of the situation you're in – or at least not let people realize your focusing on your alerts.

You can even assign specific vibrations for certain people or messages so you know who or what it is without looking.

The SmartRing will be able to display texts, calls, emails, Facebook and Twitter alerts and more as the device is further developed. Initially it will support iOS and Android only.

The ring will use wireless charging so all it needs is to be placed on a wireless charging plate to get back to full power.

Battery life hasn't been mentioned yet but we imagine it will have to last at least a day or two for anyone to want it.

The SmartRing is shock and water resistant meaning you can treat it like any other ring and it will keep on going.

The MOTA SmartRing can be backed on Indiegogo now for $75 which will secure you one for its shipping date in April 2015.

Or if you want to be an alpha tester you can shell out $150 and get yours in March 2015.
