Android app now available in Nigeria, 7 other African countries

The Facebook Lite is particularly good news for those who have been battling with slow and expensive 3G networks.

Facebook has launched its new Facebook Lite Android app in 8 African countries including Nigeria, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Sudan.

With 10,000 downloads in Play Store, the app is also available in Asian contries like Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Vietnam.

The Facebook Lite is particularly good news for those who have been battling with slow and expensive 3G networks, because the app uses as little data and processing power as possible to provide a decent Facebook experience.

It is yet to be ascertained how much little data is consumed using the Facebook Lite compared to the regular app.

With the sometimes exorbitant data charges imposed by some Internet service provider, Facebook Lite may be a welcome development that might gain massive popularity among Android phone users soon.
