Fire Service records 80 outbreaks in November

He said the service had also saved property worth N390m from ravages of fire.

 

The Kano State Fire Service says it has recorded 80 cases of fire outbreaks in November.

The Director of the sevice, Alhaji Balarabe Kabara, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Kano.

Kabara said that property worth N186m was destroyed by the outbreaks within the period.

"We received 103 rescue calls and 10 false alarms from members of the public.

" A total of 134 lives were saved from various incidents while 21 lives were lost,’’ he said.

He confirmed that a fire incidence occurred on Wednesday at Naibawa, Zaria road, when a trailer had head-on-collision with a commercial vehicle.

He said the service also rescued a victim who was unconscious and was rushed to the hospital.

The director called on members of the public to be conscious and take precautionary measures to avert fire outbreaks particularly during the dry season.
