Police confirm abduction of 3 housewives

Another source in the family told NAN on Thursday that the abductors had called to assure the family that the women were safe "but made no other demand''.

The Kaduna State Police Command, on Thursday confirmed the kidnap of three housewives at Dorayi village in Zaria Local Government Area of the state.

The command's spokesman, DSP Zubairu Abubakar, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna that the women were kidnapped on Sunday.

Abubakar said that the police were on the trail of the kidnappers and had intensified surveillance in the area.

He urged the family members to cooperate with the police to ensure the safe release of the women.

The police spokesman said that kidnappers were yet to make any demand for ransom contrary to rumours that they had demanded for N10 million.

A source in the village had earlier told NAN that the armed kidnappers numbering about 10, took away the women on Sunday at about 12.15a,m.

The source gave the names of the abducted women as: Maimuna Abubakar, 25, Mairo Hussaini, 20, and Hauwa Ibrahim, 20.

"The following night the same suspects went back to the village and took away two cows and a motorcycle,'' he said.
