Automaker's diesel emissions scandal to be made into a movie

Volkswagen's dieselgate scandal is being made into a documentary by Oscar-nominated filmmaker, Steve Kalafer.

He recently made the announcement in an interview with Automotive News.

Speaking to the publication, the filmmaker said he was intrigued by Volkswagen's diesel emissions scandal because it was the biggest he had seen in his 39 years in the business.

"The reality is that unless these issues are dealt with straightforwardly, honestly and with equity, Volkswagen in hindsight will have destroyed their company,"Kalafer said

The material for the documentary, titled Backfire: The Volkswagen Fraud of the Century, will be gotten through interviews with former executives, customers, dealers, and regulators.
