“The decision of the federal government to introduce Speed Limiter is a good one and we have already commenced advisory enforcement on it."

Anambra

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has set an April 1st deadline for the installation of Speed Limiting Devices(SLD).

The Nation reports that he stated the reduction of excessive speeding and accidents as an incentive.

"Having realised that most of the crashes or more than 60 per cent of the crashes that occur on our roads is caused by over speeding, then the decision of the federal government to introduce Speed Limiter is a good one and we have already commenced advisory enforcement on it.

By first of April 2016 the real enforcement will come, so we are using this opportunity again to remind the general motoring public, especially the fleet operators to get a vendor and begin to install speed limiter in their vehicles.”

Last week, the president of the Road Safety Officers Wives Association (ROSOWA), Mrs Bolanle Oyeyemi, said the speed limiting device will reduce accidents, deaths, and more.

“Some motorists, in their exotic cars, may not know they are going above regulated speed, but once they have SLD installed, automatically, they will be restricted to drive at a the regulated speed limit.

“Apart from the delays caused by road crashes, loss of lives, properties and injuries associated with them will greatly reduce, if all motorists embrace the speed limiting policy,” she said.
