While Dr. Pimple Popper commented that the epidermoid cyst looks like a prehistoric fish, many fans commented that the "pop actually looks like the infamous dinner scene from the 1979 film.

The epidermoid cysts contents, which is a mix of dead skin cells and keratin, is Alien gray in color due to melanin.

In a new Instagram video, aka, dermatologist and removes an from a patient, uncovering an alien at the same time. According to commenters on the post, this particular cyst removal looks like something straight out of the 1979 cult-classic film Alien. Forget the from the sci-fi movie. This cyst removal is on another level.

In the video, Dr. Lee uses a pair of scissors to wrestle with the gray-colored cyst, attempting to remove the eyeball-sized growth in one piece. But the thing that makes this jarring removal so Alien-like is the coloring of the cyst, which is a dark gray hue with a visible membrane.

Even if this growth is reminiscent of Alien creatures due to its appearance, theres a scientific explanation for the coloring. The hue of the cyst is largely dictated by the amount of melanin in a patient's skin, as a cyst is filled with a mixture of dead skin cells and keratin which contain melanin. This particular patient has a deep skin tone, meaning the melanin in their skin will result in a grayish cyst coloring.

While Dr. Lee likens the pop to a prehistoric fish in her video caption, fans made the Alien connection in the comments, especially likening the removal to the dinner scene from the 1979 film. Thankfully, unlike Kane in the film, this patient walks away relatively unscathed from the close encounter.
