We learn to run, read and count. We learn foreign languages, dance steps and new systems needed for work. We learn all our lives. It's all true. But can we learn that we want to be happy?
You can learn to be happy, scientists offer 1 crucial tip

As it turns out, yes. According to scientists, luckily you don't have to wait - you can train it.
With each passing year, the science of human mental well-being is developing faster and faster. Successive groups of scientists are trying not only to define the feeling of happiness as best as possible, but also to find the way to it. Even specialised courses are organised for this purpose.
Happiness course
One such course was launched in 2018 at Yale University. The presenters gathered in one place all scientific knowledge about psychology and psychiatry regarding the nature and essence of happiness.
During the course, students learn practical tips for supporting mental well-being, called "happiness tips." The aim of the course was to achieve a lasting sense of happiness, achievable by developing certain habits that have a positive impact on well-being. This means equipping students with a "fishing rod," not a "fish" that lasts only for the duration of classes.
The students were divided into several groups. When some finished classes and returned to their daily routine, others took their places. However, all of them had to report their mental state regularly. The analysis of these reports allowed scientists to draw interesting conclusions.
Little things, big results
The course graduates confirmed that practicing "happiness tips" every day significantly improved their well-being. So what were they?
The most common advice was to learn to appreciate the little things. Understanding that we should be grateful for many things around us actually makes us feel better. What's more, all it takes is a moment during the day to appreciate who we are and what we have done - with an emphasis on the simplest things and activities.
What could it be? Even a moment with a cup of tea, a nice view outside the window, a sunny day or a tasty, nutritious and healthy dinner. Realising that nothing is given forever, so it is worth appreciating these single moments. This is crucial in learning to be happy.
"Countless studies have shown that getting out of our own thoughts helps us escape from negative ruminations, which can cause many mental health problems," emphasised Prof. Bruce Hood from Yale University for the website PsyPost.org.
In addition, scientists recommend broadly understood self-care. To be happy, physical activity, a healthy diet, meditation and even keeping a diary are important.
What could we write down in it? To start, just write down one thing every day for which you are grateful and what happened to you that day. This simple habit will allow us to notice how many such things or matters surround us.
It is worth trying everything to find your own private path to happiness.
