The 2-part media event began with the film screening at the Silverbird Cinema, V.I Lagos, was wrapped up at a press conference at the Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi.

Potentially one of the greatest Nigerian story ever told by a Nigerian and made into a movie, “Half Of A Yellow” film screening has been held in Nigeria.

A sweeping romantic drama, Half Of A Yellow Sun' written by award-winning novelist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and adapted into a movie by the renowned Biyi Bandele, Weaves together the lives of four people swept up in the turbulence of war. Olanna (Newton) and Kainene (Rose) are glamorous twins from a wealthy Nigerian family. Returning to a privileged city life in newly independent 1960s Nigeria after their expensive English education, the two women make very different choices which takes the sisters and their lovers on a journey through the war which is powerful, intensely emotional and possess the ability to touch everyone's hearts.
Some of the movie crew were present at the event including Chiwetele Ejiofor, O.C Ukeje, Anika Noni Rose, and Biyi Bandele. They fielded questions from the newsmen and reporters.
Biyi Bandele, the director, revealed some of the challenges experienced by the crew during the shoot which took place at the Tinapa Studios, Calabar.

“Some Of the crew members had Typhoid and Malaria, Thandie Newton was down with typhoid, we encountered a number of hurdles and difficulties, but I'm grateful that none of them left the set during the shoot.” Bandele said.
Lead actor, Chiwetel Ejiofor, who played a leading role, also revealed that the movie had a personal meaning for him. Chiwetel's parents (originally from Enugu, Eastern Nigeria), left the country as a consequence of the Biafran war. That enabled him to be born in the UK.
Half Of A Yellow Sun had earlier been screened at the 38 annual Toronto International Film Festival last year, and the October London Film Festival.
The movie will hit the Nigerian cinemas on April 25, in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Abuja, Uyo, Warri, Asaba, Calabar, and Benin.
