Today, 14 August, 2013, sees two former Super Eagles stars, "Austin Jay Jay' Okocha and Samson Siasia, celebrate their birthdays. For former midfield wizard, ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha and ex-striker turned successful coach, Siasia, this day marks another milestone for them. Augustine Azuka Okocha who was born on 14 August, 1973, in Enugu, is arguably the best player to have worn the Super Eagles' jersey. He is known for his step-overs, skill, technique, and being 'so good that they named him twice' (a line immortalized in a terrace chant while Okocha played for Bolton Wanderers in the English EPL). He is a dual Turkish-Nigerian citizen, having acquired Turkish citizenship and re-christened ‘Muhammet Yavuz’ while playing for Süper Lig team, Fenerbahçe, in Turkey. Okocha who has since turned a celebrity and club owner (he is the head honcho of Club 10 in Victoria Island), is a very flamboyant man who is visible in the social scene today in Nigeria. He celebrates 39(?) today.

Samson Siasia, on the other hand, was born on August 14, 1967, in Accra, Ghana, and started playing for Nigeria as a school boy before moving up the ranks into various national teams and finally landed in the Super Eagles where he scored 13 goals from 51 international matches. He was the former coach of the Super Eagles after successfully leading the U-20 team to second place at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Holland and the U-23 male team to silver medal at the Beijing Olympics. He is 45 years old today. Join us in wishing these big boys a very happy birthday.
