3rd Edition set to hold this weekend

Join the 3rd Annual 500px Global Photowalk and stand a chance of becoming a full-time salaried photojournalist at Pulse Nigeria.

Come Saturday September 26, 2015, and about 200 photographers (hobbyists, enthusiasts and professionals) will be participating in the 3rd Annual 500px Global Photowalk.

500px (pronounced 500 pixels) is a Canada-based organisation that runs www.500px.com, one of the most visually stunning photo sharing sites in the world with 2.5 million registered users and over 10 million monthly active users.

The site also currently gets over a billion page views each month. 500px was recently mentioned by TIME Magazine as one of the best photo-sharing sites.

A photo walk is, among other things, an opportunity for members of a community to get together to explore and celebrate their community and city through both walking and taking photographs. This photo walk will be the 2nd 500px photo walk held in Lagos and Nigeria and it is being sponsored by Diamond Bank Plc. Diamond Bank’s CEO Mr. Uzoma Dozie (www.uzomadozie.com) is a passionate photographer himself and has sent his best wishes to all the photowalk participants.

The theme this year is "Explore with Friends" and it will be hosted by Devesh Uba (www.snapitoga.com) and Seun Idowu(www.imagopro.photography), both top photographers in Nigeria. The aim of the walk will be to explore, celebrate and photograph places and people within Lagos city.

This walk is part of an International event that will find thousands of photographers in 130 cities participating all at once in photo walks around the globe.

Lagosians will not only have an opportunity to celebrate their community but to celebrate with people around this great planet we call home.

Over 70 photographers participated last year. This year, over 200 registered photographers will meet in Lekki, Lagos from where they will depart on a 2 hour walk exploring Lekki and environs.

After the walk, the photographers will meet up for light refreshment to talk about what they found, share photographs taken and talk about why they love the city they call home. The photos will also be uploaded on www.500px.com where millions of people around the world will see them.

Thereafter, the best pictures will be chosen by a combination of 500px’s internal algorithm and expert photographer-judges’ opinions. The winners of the competition will be chosen in October and presented with camera prizes donated by Fujifilm, the global sponsor"
