I’ll be the first to admit it. I can be lazy. infact, i am really lazy i prefer lying down reading a book than lacing up my sneakers and going for a run. However, i am trying so hard to find a balance and exercise more.

Even a light workout or exercising just a few days a week is better than nothing – it gets the heart pumping, improves mood, and controls weight. Without further ado, here are some tips I’ve picked along the way for exercising regularly, even when you really, really don’t want to. Hope you find it beneficial.

Cover the display screen. When running on the treadmill or using the elliptical or stationary bike, try covering the display screen with a towel. This way you won’t count the minutes, miles, or calories, which will help you exercise at your own pace. When I do this, I tend to move faster and work out longer because I’m not tracking my progress. Time flies when you’re having fun (or not monitoring your workout)…I promise.

Try new classes. Spicing up your workout routine is the name of the game. Most yoga studios, dance centers, and gyms offer walk-in classes, so there’s no real commitment. Try each and every class that fits your schedule even if you don’t think you’ll like it, because you never know what will keep you coming back.

Buy new workout attire. Go ahead and purchase the fancy running shoes or sports bra you’ve been eyeing. Just like a new pair of jeans, you’ll feel obligated to throw them on as soon as you get home to give them a test drive. After your initial run, make sure to keep your new gear somewhere visible so that you’re more likely to keep up the momentum.

Get a gym buddy. Having someone to hold you accountable is super important if you’re unmotivated like me. Select a friend who is a workout queen (or king) and have them call or text to let you know when they’re up for a workout. Just like that, you’ll find yourself at the gym more often.

Purchase at-home equipment. A stressful day at the office can leave you reluctant to suit up and head to the gym. The solution is easy – get your workout on right from the comfort of your own home! Anything from a hula hoop to a resistance band to light weights will give you an adequate workout for the day.
