Police detain lawyer over connection with felon

The lawyer was implicated in a case related to the adoption of a woman named Mrs. Nwobodo, in which a sum of N1m was paid for her release.

He mentioned this in Makurdi at a press briefing with members of the Benue State Security Council at the state Police headquarters.

“What led to his arrest did not indicate that he is a lawyer, he was given a nickname as a collaborator or member of that gang”,

“The NBA came out and further inquiries were conducted and we found out that he is said to be a lawyer",

The lawyer, whose name has not been disclosed, was detained for his alleged involvement in armed robbery, assassination, cattle rustling and kidnapping crimes in the state, Daily Post reports.

According to the police commissioner, a sum of N1m was paid as ransom for one Mrs. Nwobodo, who was abducted by the lawyer's accomplices.
