Although the defendant had pleaded guilty during her first arraignment on September 18 and was to be convicted on Monday by Magistrate W. Balogun, she changed her plea to not guilty.

Prosecuting Inspector, Philip Osijale, told the court that the defendant committed the offence a day after she was employed by the victim.

Osijale said the defendant boiled hot water and monitored her boss until she had slept off and then poured it on her body.

He alleged that the defendant told the police she committed the offence intentionally in order to teach the woman a lesson.

He said the assault caused the woman injury on her chest, hands and other parts of the body.

Osijale said the victim was still undergoing treatment in a Lagos hospital.
