42-yr-old man kills himself by jumping into well

A 42-year-old man has finally succeeded in committing suicide after several attempts.

The usually sleepy community of Igbogbo in Ikorodu, Lagos State, was thrown into confusion when a 42-year-old man, identified as Babatunde Akeem, committed suicide by jumping into a well on Daodu Street, drowning in the process.

According to reports, this was not the first time that the deceased had made attempts to take his life but was always rescued by relatives and neighbours until he finally 'succeeded' when he plunged into the well said to be 120 feet deep well in the morning on Wednesday, October 7.

His dead body was brought out of the well by men of the Lagos State Fire Service later in the day.

One of the officials of the State Fire Service, said:

“The Ikorodu Fire Station was there after we received the distress call around 11am. But as soon as we got there, we learnt that he had been recovered dead and his remains taken to the Ikorodu General Hospital.

We gathered that he had made attempts to kill himself in the past. He jumped into the well this morning and he was brought out dead.”
