2 pensioners slump, die during protest in Benue
The economic situation in the country has claimed the lives of two pensioners who slumped and died during a protest for their entitlement in Benue State.
According to reports, the incident happened in Makurdi, the state capital, when the retirees, some of them old and frail, took to the streets to protest against the state government over their unpaid entitlement and gratuity which spanned 11 months.
During the protest, two of the pensioners were said to have slumped and became unconscious and all efforts to revive them proved unsuccessful as they were confirmed dead on arrival at a hospital.
