Punch reports that Magaji, a resident of Danaski village in Musawa Local Government Area of the state defiled the baby when her mother, Zinai, left her in his care to go and buy some food stuff in a nearby market.

The baby's father, Ibrahim Nuhu, reported the case to the police who took her to the Turai Yar’Adua Maternity and Children Hospital in the state capital where tests showed that she had been defiled.

Nuhu narrated that the baby’s mother had separated from him some months ago and got married to Magaji, taking the infant along with her. Ibrahim who spoke to journalists on the incident, said Zinai had approached him complaining that the baby had piles which had resulted in bleeding in her private part and anus.
He said he took the baby to the General Hospital, Malumfashi, where the doctors, after examining the baby, insisted that the police should be invited as it was a rape case and not piles as claimed by the mother.
The baby’s anus and vagina were said to have been injured due to forceful penetration and she was consequently referred to the children hospital for further treatment while the police were called in.
Zinai said that she had woken up sometime last week to find traces of blood and water in the baby’s private parts and she naturally assumed she had piles.
“The following day after I made the observation, Magaji gave me some clothes to wash and I saw blood stains and semen deposit on them."

Confirming the incident and the arrest of the suspect, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Isah Gambo said Magaji had confessed to the crime and he would be charged to court after a thorough investigation.
