A 32-year-old man in Enugu State, Sunday Aneke, has been arraigned before the Federal High Court in the state for allegedly raping his 10-year-old half-sister.
The accused who has a two-count charge hung on his neck, was said to have forcefully had carnal knowledge of the minor in July, 2014, and could face life in prison if the new law passed by the Senate is implemented on time.
According to the prosecution, Aneke had called the victim into his room of the fateful day and forcefully had sex with her.
He was said to have threatened to kill the girl if she raised an alarm or told anyone of the assault on her.
The prosecution added:
"The accused forced her into bed and started defiling her. He had sex with her for about three hours and the victim lost consciousness which made the accused person to run away."
But the accused pleaded not gulity to the charges, claiming that the victim's mother who is his step-mom, set him up because she was not on talking terms with his mother.
