Femi Kuti Fails At The 2014 Grammy

The 4-time Nigerian nominee failed to beat Gipsy Kings and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, who tied in the Best World Music Album category.

Son of late Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti, and Africa’s leading wind instrumentalist, Femi Kuti, has lost again at the Grammy Awards. The 4-time Nigerian nominee failed to beat Gipsy Kings and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, who tied in the Best World Music Album category.

The 56 Grammy Awards which held yesterday, Sunday 26 January 204, at the Nokia Theatre and Staples Center, Los Angeles, had a plethora of world class musicians and socialites in attendance, with many making a number of fashion statements.

This will be the 4th loss for Femi Kuti who was first nominated in in 2003 but lost to Panamanian salsa singer, Rubén Blades. Then again in 2010 he lost in the same fashion to US banjo player, Bela Fleck. 2013 was a similar tale, as he was beaten to the gong. Now this year he leaves empty-handed again.
