Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa was removed this afternoon by a resolution of the State House of Assembly.
Adamawa Governor, Nyako impeached by State Assembly
The governor was impeached today after the conclusion of an investigation into his conduct by the state legislature.
Nyako was impeached after a 7-man investigative committee indicted him of gross misconduct and financial impropriety.
The findings of the committee were read by the Speaker of the house, Umaru Fintiri, who revealed that the governor was found guilty of all the 16 allegations levelled against him.
The Deputy Governor of the state, Bala Ngilari had resigned earlier today as he was due to be impeached as well.
The Speaker of the House will be sworn in as acting governor in a ceremony which is billed to take place at 4:00 pm today.
