Commuters in over 60 cities board trains with pants only

People across different cities boarded trains and subways with only their pants on for the 14th annual No Pants Subway Ride.

Commuters across some major cities in the world on Monday, January 12, rode to work with only their undies on as they celebrated the No Pants Subway Ride.

No Pants Subway Ride began as a small stunt by seven New York subway riders known as Improv Everywhere in 2002 and has now turned into a global event.

Commuters in London and 60 other major cities like Hong Kong, Johannesburg, New York, and Manhattan hopped on trains with their legs bared.

This year’s No Pants Subway Ride event is the 14th edition.

"It's a celebration of silliness; there's no real reason, just come out and play,” one of the organisers No Pants Subway Ride, Larry Piche, said.

The rule is “don't wear pants, ride the set route, and keep a straight face.”  “Be tasteful and hygienic, wear everyday clothes from the waist up, and carry a valid ticket. If questioned, you do not know any of the other pants-less riders. Tell folks that you forgot to wear pants. Don't wear a thong or anything else that might offend people. Our aim is to make people laugh, not piss them off," organisers said on Facebook ahead of the Sydney event.
