A 26-year-old man, Cheka Samuel, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly stealing musical instruments belonging to a church.

During interrogation at Ajao Estate Police Division, the accused allegedly revealed that he had no intention to steal the instruments, but was compelled to do so because he did not find any money in the offering box.

However, he was arraigned at the Isolo Magistrate’s Court in Lagos by Presiding Magistrate, Mrs Joy Ugbomoiko, who granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum. She ordered that he be remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, pending when he will perfect his bail.

However, when the charge was read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty.
