A notorious fraudster who duped his victims by promising to get lucrative employments for them has been arraigned before Justice B. O. Quadri of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Monday June 22, 2015.
The anti-graft agency told the court that Ifeanyi Ozoh and members of his syndicate, allegedly collected various sums of money from one Pleasure Nwachukwu on the pretext that the money would be used to procure an Arik Airline ticket to Lagos to enable the victim attend a job interview with the airline.
Nwachukwu who petitioned the agency on the activities of the fraudsters, alleged that he received a call from the accused who introduced himself as a senior staff of Arik Air and told him that there are job opportunities at Arik Air and that he should pass the information to his church members, which he did.
Members of the congregation contacted the accused who asked them to pay various amounts for their flight tickets for the interview.
They were provided with the account details of one Edmund Anyanwu with a new generation bank, to which they paid the money, but that was the end of their money as Ozoh and his gang went underground and switched off their phones.
But the EFCC was able to use scientific methods of investigations to track him down.
Ozoh however pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him and Justice Quadri admitted him to bail in the sum of N50,000, while adjourning the case till October 19, 2015, for hearing.
