The suspect identified simply as Tomiwa, aka Tommy, reportedly escaped the police station on March 12, 2016, with his whereabouts still unknown as of yesterday, April 7.

PUNCH Metro reports that Tomiwa, who had reportedly been on the run after himself and his gang members gang-raped a girl in the area, had been brought to the station by some youths on March 12.

Tomiwa had reportedly escaped from the station the same day, while he was being taken to his cell.

The victim, identified only as Joy reveals that she had been returning from a factory where she worked on the fateful day the gang had attacked her and raped her.

She added that they had collected her phone, as well as her salary which she had been with at the time, before the three of them had taken turns raping her.

Speaking with Punch Metro, Joy said:

“The IPO was one Martinda, and she told me to report back whenever I saw those guys. Around 1pm one day, I rushed back to the station and informed her, but she told us to raise N20,000 for their arrest.

“We later met with some other policemen there and they collected N2,000 after much pleading. We left the station around 3pm, but by the time we got to where I saw them, they had fled. I had forgone the matter until yesterday (Wednesday) when some of the men that raped me were arrested.”
