An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, which gave the ruling, asked the accused – Saheed Kazeem and Balogun Yusuf – to provide one surety each as part of the bail condition.
The Magistrate Mr. J.A. Adegun, said the sureties should be gainfully employed and show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Adegun held that the accused be remanded in Kirikiri Prisons, pending the perfection of their bails.
The accused, both residents of Amikanle, Alagbado area of Lagos State, are facing a two- count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Babaji Ishaku, told the court that the accused, committed the offences on Oct. 28, along AIT road, Alagbado, Lagos.
He said that the complainant, one Uzokwe Oluchi, had given the motorcycle with registration number PKA 824 UE to Kazeem on hire purchase.
“He reached an agreement with Kazeem to be remitting N8, 000 weekly but paid only once and absconded for some weeks.
“After several weeks, Kazeem claimed he was indisposed and gave the motorcycle to Yusuf.
“Yusuf then claimed that the motorcycle was stolen from him,” Ishaku said
The offences contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The magistrate adjourned the case to Dec. 12 for mention.
